The Arts Ambassador Program:
The Cheyenne Civic Center Performing Arts Theatre has over 50 community volunteers, or Arts Ambassadors, who act as theater ushers, ticket office aides and provide many other services for the Center. Each year our Arts Ambassadors donate thousands of hours in support of the Civic Center and its programs.
The Civic Center recruits new Arts Ambassadors annually in August. New Arts Ambassadors must attend a general orientation meeting and attend the Arts Ambassador training before serving as a volunteer at the Civic Center. The general orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the Cheyenne Civic Center Performing Arts Theatre, the Arts Ambassador program, and tour the Center.
Specific Duties:
- Greeting the public.
- Taking tickets and distributing programs.
- Assisting patrons to their seats.
- Check-in patron's coats.
- Door guards.
- Answering questions for the patrons.
- Be alert to audience problems and report them.
- Other duties as assigned by the House Manager.
Arts Ambassador Training:
The Arts Ambassador training is a comprehensive training and development program. It is designed to give our Arts Ambassadors the training, and support needed to undertake their duties while enhancing their volunteer experience. The training consists of an afternoon session covering a variety of topics including: customer service, ushering, directing patrons, emergency procedures and much more.
Eligibility and Participation Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, and should be comfortable with stairs as well as being able to stand for extended periods of time. While applications are accepted though-out the year, there is an annual training seminar in August which is mandatory of all new applicants before they can begin volunteering.
Qualifications:- Well-groomed and personable.
- Able to deal with the public in a friendly manner.
- Work/sell at novelty sales table.
- Comfortable handling money.
- Interested in theater and events, able to work large and small events.
- Trained at Art Ambassador training course.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be punctual.
Time Required:
Number of events is determined by the Arts Ambassador (mostly weekends, may include some day events). Ambassadors sign up to volunteer for the events of their choice.
